Handed a book
chose not to read
looked at the cover
told me everything I need
never, they say
judge a book by its cover
yet its contents displayed
publically, in full effect
for all to see
saddened
still chose not to read
pushed questioning feelings aside
didn't want them to surface & rise
seen so many things played out before
too many times in front of me
the ugliness of truth denied
didn't want to face it
wanted to run and hide
yet someone spoke
how exactly those feelings felt inside
words to those feelings
empowering it felt
now that I knew
I couldn't run any longer
had to face the facts knowing
the book inside out
so I closed that chapter
without ever reading a line
never giving my kindness
to someone who doesn't deserve it again..
