Rooftop Reflections
Huddled on the rooftop on a rusty chair
I sit, enveloped by lights from dim homes,
Across the bustling streets,
Car horns and blurry faces-
I am in search of my own.
Sunset clings to the somber skies
A hint of nightfall blends in,
Somewhere on the horizon
Like a growing crowd I can't keep up with-
Stranger among strangers in waves, toppling.
From afar, i see a translucent umbrella
Shading someone from the drizzling rain,
Settling in the dusk, I couldn't tell apart
The dimlit skies or shadows overhanging
Above, below, everything around me
Washing out sounds
Of scurrying voices, overcrowded streets,
As traces of warmth slip away,
I tremble still in search
Down the puddles sinking beneath my feet.
Among the reflections, distorted
Shades of reality;
Sinking deeper, much deeper, eventually-
Drowning inside of me.
