The Awaited
They are waiting, for us as we linger
On the outskirts of waning forest,
that seems to have no future abreast.
Slowing down, as we try to enter,
The ghostly sounds make us shriek,
the sound of the life , once a mystique.
As we continue to follow the sunken trail,
the sounds finally stop, and a silence follows,
with no trace of the wind that blows.
While walking, as I step on a twig,
it carries me along to it's happy past,
when it was once alive and vast.
The days, when the breeze played along,
with its leaves being lush green,
and the trunk, how huge it'd been!
But now, it's been reduced to fragments
It's not one, but many of it's friends,
who met the same fate, perhaps, that's how it ends.
As we move further ahead, we can see some,
but they are few, filled with fear,
and anger that's raging as we draw near.
Upon looking at them, I realised
a hidden hope -resides behind the anger,
hope - that someday, we'll see their plight and danger.
They are still waiting, for that day,
the day we'll realise and treat them, in a better way!
