Without Telling Them What To Tell
How will one say "I love you"
in a not so boring way

How will one say "I need you"
in a not so clingy way

How will one say "I miss you"
in a not so obvious way

How will one say "I'm hurt"
without a tone with blame

How will one say "You are important"
in an artistic way

How will one say "We can make it"
in an elegant phrase

There seems to be a way -

"Ways"

Poets have it their own

Anyways ,

And my dad have his

Unique inspiring way

Of telling mom what to tell

Without him telling it

In a normal way.

As my vocabulary turn vast and deep

One thing for sure I need to keep

In mind, so I less weep:

Words are there to tap when in need

To draw people closer while being creative

But to draw them in with poetic greed

This thing for sure is not the best use

Of poetry's given privilege.

And the most boring way to say things

Is the most plain and pure.

And to say things in a clingy way

Isn't that we must cling for us to stay?

And with the right people

We don't have to try too hard to weave

Stanzas that conceal what must be revealed

Coz love is best sensed when it is expressed

In a way that's clear and direct.

If I say Im hurt , but it sounds

like a twin of a blame

Is defensiveness in them that make it sound

a certain way?

May be yes , maybe no

To say one is "important"

Words are not

The only device to use just to show.

But it is one way just to let them know.

And if poems has lose its power

To tell them how we love them so

May our actions be our tool

To still say our innermost thoughts

Without telling them what to tell

Especially when we run out

Of creativity and words.
