That was'nt a dream
It was'nt a carpenter's tool, that didnt let me sleep.
It wasnt the thunder, that took away my nap.
There was'nt a baby's whining, through that deep.
There could'nt be a stray dog which howled without a gap.
There were'nt any soul snoring next to me every night.
There were'nt loud speakers roaring somewhere near.
There isn't a night that the neighbour's cat rolled in a fight.
There weren't any drunk men out there, anywhere near.
But it wasnt true too that I lied to myself every night.
It wasnt true i cheated myself peace every dawn.
It was'nt a carpenter's tool, it was'nt the thunder too.
It wasnt a baby, and was'nt a stray dog's doo.
It wasn't the snore, it was'nt the sound box too.
It was'nt the cat nor the drunk to comply my rescue.
It was the laugh of my boy, that robbed away my trance.
It was the dodge of his feet that jittered around.
It was his smile near my face that shrugged me and drowned.
Every night he played his pranks in my head,
I tried every night to reach him and he fled.
