Father
Fathers, your labours of love have not been forgotten,
Those sweat from your brow from the roads you've trodden,
Those calluses on your hands from working so hard,
The dirt on your knees from seeking the lord.

Those moments of silence, throughout all your pain,
Those days in pittance that had you picking your brain,
The kids that you love driving you insane,
But you came out on top again and again

Fathers we thank you for abandoning this trend of running away,
Trend started by men that have lost their way
We thank you for caring enough to stay,
Throughout all the challenges you had to contend,
You chose to stick around until the end

Being a man is a common thing, you'll find them around each corner, A dad is such a rare breed which means the role is just a little bit harder,
Your role is not natural but divine and requires a spiritual armour,
There is a reason God is not called man, but is frequently called
"Father"

You have continued this far and we appreaciate you, with the entirety of our heart,
You have come this far and you'll go even further, and your role you'll soon impart,
You are more than a man, you are a father, a priceless work of art,
And know, when you leave this world, there will be a boy or girl, with your teachings in their heart.
