My Freedom
My Freedom comes at a cost;
A cost of life, versus a cost of imprisonment;
Thus I did not know, I could be this free;
For how is one to know, if they do not act?
I lived my life, protecting those I loved;
By protecting those I loved, I ruined my life;
Thus I did what, I thought was right;
But in the end, I lost my life;
How does one know, their true freedom?
How does one get to experience, what their family does not teach?
I plead guilty to crimes I did not commit, because I was raised to always take the heat for those you love.

Here I am, here and now; regretting all I did, not knowing where I could be;
Thus I am here, 35 and alone;
Trying to fix, what may never be undone.
We are born, innocent and pure;
And we live this life, not knowing our future;
We risk our lives, just to be noticed and loved;
But in the end, we ask if what we did was right?
Those who are at their end, fear for what's next.
Some believe in God, or a Higher power, where others believe in other things;
For I believe in God, but also believe in my makers maker;

Thus I fight now for me and my freedom.
My Freedom is mine, and I no longer take the heat for anyone, anymore.
