Snapshot
Lucky or unfortunate enough to see
life as a developing photograph //
Oh how fresh laundry reminds me of
why simplicity is the key to gratitude //
Emerald lights dance; tempting as a
siren’s nectar-like song of disillusion //
I take my coffee bitter ‘cuz it reminds
me of how perilous human existence is //
A hummingbird rests its tired wings if
only for a brief moment of solace //
Each wave tells a story of perseverance
yet crashes upon melting sandcastles //
We complicate our souls with short-term
gratification; I am no saint but an observer //
Those who “know” typically are wolves;
Us who are fools usually own our mistakes //
I fold fresh socks as a few more pixels emerge, listening to the ocean’s breeze //
Generation too soon or too late:
maybe we’ll see the world end in fireworks
else we’ll teach our children to say cheese //
