The other me
#MirrorReflections
In silvered glass, a stranger's face
A reflection different, yet familiar in pace
I stare, and she stares back at me
A version of myself, yet not quite me
"Who are you?" I ask, with curious tone
"A version of you," she replies, "left unknown"
"What paths did you take, that I did not?"
"The ones that fear and doubt had got"
"What choices did you make, that I did not?"
"The ones that led to a different plot"
We converse, this mirrored self and I
Exchanging stories, of what could have been why
She speaks of roads not taken, of chances not seized
Of opportunities lost, and memories not prized
I listen, and in her words, I see
A reflection of what could have been me
But as we talk, our differences fade away
And in her eyes, I see a glimmer of my own ray
For though our paths diverged, our hearts remain the same
Connected in our struggles, our hopes, our flames
And when I turn away, and she disappears from sight
I know that she's still with me, in the light of my own light.
