There once was a ship nicknamed the big fitz

because of its size they said it won't fit

a big ole load of 26 thou
that is a lot for that kind of style

on November the 10th the wind was real soar

but the Edmund Fitzgerald kept heading from shore

the men on the ship were all alone

the last word was
we are holding our own

she sank off the coast of whitefish Bay

thats where they are and thats where they'll stay

and when you look out you'll see a light that makes your eyes ach

and then disappear on that vast empty lake
