The Spooky Night
The night was dark
Of the moon there was no mark .
The rustle of leaves ,
Like an old witch's wheeze
Made even the bravest freeze .
The wind whispered
To the trees who whimpered
For they were awoken ,
from silence otherwise unbroken.
The barn owl screeched
To far the noise reached.
The tower clock tick tocked
In a voice so loud
Which usually was unheard in the crowd.
Under the sheets I remain
With no courage to check the domain
I lie there still ,
And stare at the window sill.
Terror creeped inside -
A shape loomed outside
Through a net of cobwebs saw
Bats flying in a row.
With fear surging
But my instincts urging,
I gather all my guts .
I pull off the sheets
Don't know what I may meet
Walked upto the window where
Stood the spooky scare...
Stepping on my cat
who was sleeping fast
she gave a loud cry...
I awake from my sleep, my mouth dry...
I sit on my bed blinking
Could hear the church bells tinkling.
Relieved, it was all a dream
Smiled as the sun beamed.
