They Laugh, I Smile
They laugh, saying I'm skinny,
Yes, I agree, it's true,
But it's not by choice, you see,
Losing weight, like life's sucking me dry.
Their whispers cut, a painful sting,
But I know it's temporary,
I'll rise, laugh, and spread my wings,
Leaving their hurtful words to fade.
Stretch marks remain, a constant test,
Black belly, a reminder of my past,
Confidence shaken, lost, and repressed,
Low self-esteem, a weight that won't last.
Pregnancy changed me, inside and out,
Can't wear what I want, without a doubt,
Expensive treatments, a financial strain,
But I'll learn to accept, and rise above the pain.
Being short, and skinny too,
Not by choice, but life's circumstance anew,
Losing weight hurts, more than you know,
But I'll find strength, and let my spirit glow.
Rejection letters pile high,
Darkness surrounds, and I wonder why,
Tortured inside, suffering alone,
Their laughter echoes, but I'll find my way back home.
I wish to be a happy soul,
Free from problems, with a heart that's whole,
But challenges come, uninvited and cold,
Yet, I'll hold on, for better days to unfold.
