A creeping thought
though true or not,
hard to ignore.
Eat away at my soul
surely but slowly,
not my problem
nor fault.
Tormenting only one,
the thinker,
who "could have" stopped
or prevented it,
but did not act
upon it,
that remorse is left.
Submerge me,
unjustified sense of guilt.
