Across the distance
i
stand at the edge,
a breath from you,
watching you
slip into shadow.
each wound you carry,
i feel;
each one cuts deep,
breaking something in me.
i plead please, for us, stop.
but
you,
like a river, drift on,
while i burn,
like fire,
unmoving.
i
close my eyes,
try to flee,
yet love doesn’t bend,
doesn’t vanish.
you fasten yourself to your pain,
fragile as a bird
in the rain,
and as i turn away,
i cry,
but some part of me
still reaches,
refuses to hide.
i tried to close the door,
but love slips in, ...
stand at the edge,
a breath from you,
watching you
slip into shadow.
each wound you carry,
i feel;
each one cuts deep,
breaking something in me.
i plead please, for us, stop.
but
you,
like a river, drift on,
while i burn,
like fire,
unmoving.
i
close my eyes,
try to flee,
yet love doesn’t bend,
doesn’t vanish.
you fasten yourself to your pain,
fragile as a bird
in the rain,
and as i turn away,
i cry,
but some part of me
still reaches,
refuses to hide.
i tried to close the door,
but love slips in, ...
