A twisted road,
A rebellious journey,
A challenging code,
Toward life’s tourney.

There’s something about
going back in time,
going deeper within
to the memories untold.

Deeper on the inside,
the feelings and values
held tightly, and painting faces
so no one would know.

The shame, the guilt
that lived and thrived,
not really knowing
if I would ever survive.

The twists and turns,
the challenging journey,
the twisted, rocky roads
with difficult codes.

The wrongs I committed,
feelings of self-defense
against the bitterness and hate
held by others around.

Life felt like a fight,
just to go forward,
dreaming and hoping
for something better.

Not really knowing
if it was all right or wrong,
learning something new
with each step of the way.

There was growth
as my insides began to change
with new life events
that sprang up on the way.

Asking for forgiveness
from the one up above,
took the football
in my gut away.

Feeling free to grow
and learn better on the way,
life has changed on the inside,
building a new me.

As I walk with the one above,
the challenges are not the same.
Deep on the inside, I have learned
where try strength lies.
