Hello My Friend
Hello my friend,
Have you been well?
Your days been great?
Oh man that’s swell.

How long’s it been?
10 years, I’d say,
Don’t mind my hair,
I’m old and gray.

Remember the time,
When I was a kid,
And all the funny things we did?
Oh I wish I could be young,
A little redo,
Oh that would be fun.

I remember the days,
All the games that we played,
And all those promises we made.

Oh I never forget truth or dare,
From our accidents and pinky swear.

Don’t think I forgot what our neighbors would say,
What we did to their dog that day,
I always laugh thinking,
If I had a dime,
For every single god damn time,
I hear you say “I told you so”,
I’d be rich a long time ago.

Man I remember our golden days,
Hot days by the pool,
While feeling the rays.

I miss our old pranks,
I miss our old jokes,
I miss our old walks,
I miss your old folks.

But now you’re gone,
I wish there’s a way,
For Father Time,
To give me that day,
When we danced by the fridge,
When I heard you sing,
When your eyes lit up,
With our wedding ring,
The times we had our painting war,
How you’d always remind me,
What I’m here for.

Or our dinner dates or our favorite treats,
Oh I wish those days would just repeat.

Now those days had come and gone,
Like the end of our favorite song.

Only the memories I have to hold,
Our times together,
Now times of old.

I’ll always be sure to watch our star,
So bright at night,
And yet so far,
I’ll always be sure to feed our dog,
And yes he’s still an attention hog.

I’ll always remember to shut off the lights,
Can’t forget those little fights.

But there is one more,
And this I swear,
This promise I keep,
As I start to tear,
I’ll never forget you,
Cause after my end,
You’ll always be,
My lover and friend.

I’ll lay right beside you when I go to bed,
You’re never forgotten,
You’re still in my head.

I left you a rose,
A kiss and a wave,
Best friends forever,
From cradle to grave.
