Running Away
I stayed because I thought you'd change
each & everyday, my face would be rearranged
beating me down to where I lost my esteem
it felt like a nightmare more than a dream.
So many people wanted me to walk away
though you begged and begged me to stay
isolated from the family & friends that I knew
to the point where I had to depend on you.
I tried and tried my hardest to run away
but I felt powerless and I felt like I had to stay
you said again and again you would change
though my face would still be rearranged.
We would argue and fight each and everyday
while you fell asleep, I finally had to ran away
the marks & bruises I had across my whole face
I knew I should've left you in the first place.
