The Hero
As a boy I loved to read about heroes and their powers,
no matter the predicament they would never cower,
I always wanted to be just like them,
powers like theirs better than the finest gem,
I understood that its it's just not possible,
but the idea of it all still remained plausible.
One day a scream filled the morning sky,
a lady held at gunpoint with tears in her eyes,
she screamed for mercy and begged for help,
as she was slapped to the floor she let out a Yelp,
I ran to the alley where the crime took place,
I was running like I was in the middle of a race.
As I reached the scene I stood before him,
the gun was drawn still pointed at the woman,
I ran at him and with all my might,
I punched his jaw and began a fight,
he swung and missed and tried to keep up,
but I played into him and best him to a pulp.
The woman thanked me and I called the police,
one less criminal to roam the streets,
I smiled as I thought, "I just saved a life",
and in just that moment my day was more bright.
I understand the saying, not all heroes wear masks,
and I made it my mission not only a task.
To keep my streets clean and avoid more crime scenes,
but then again I'm only your average human being,
but that won't stop me no matter what,
not even if I get stabbed or shot.
I'm in it till the end these are my streets to defend,
I'll do what it takes in ways you cant comprehend.
