Reminiscing
As the time finally comes to depart,
An unsettling feeling overtakes my heart.
Akin to reading a blasphemous tome,
When the hour arrives, to leave home.

My heart wells up, reminiscing memories mellow.
The warm hearth, the children’s playful bellows.
How the sun shone upon the sunflower fields.
How we were nurtured by their yearly yields.

The familiar faces and their unfading love.
Being carefree yet busy enough.
Never a dull moment, nay a trough.
When our biggest worry used to be “catching a cough”.

Life is so beautifully unique.
The whole journey so full of mystique.
The idea of growing up so promising,
Yet when you do, you’re left reminiscing.
