"If I were... a butterfly,
I'd float.
Flower to flower.
Leaving my troubles amongst the colour and nectar.
If I were... the sky's eagle,
I'd fly.
Past the storm's shower.
Through the electric heat and cold with all my power.
If I were... a plaid giraffe,
I'd yell.
Trumpet a rare call.
I'd finally be able to say I grew up and no longer feel small.
If I were... a silvered fish,
I'd smile.
A much longer while.
I'd have no ebbing wishing stars lying in a pile.
If I were... the sea's seahorse,
I'd stay.
I'd not run away.
I'd be anchored even with the seaweed's constant sway.
If only I were... these creatures,
But I'm not.
I'm stuck in my own can.
I'm boringly, tiresomely, fascinatingly hu...man."
