There once was a girl
There once was a girl that thought she could trust everyone.
She was taught not to lie and to always be kind.
So simple and sweet.
She couldn't understand that evil didn't sleep.
Naivety is a dark man's prey.
While the righteous man howls when innocence is taken away.
Justice is served when the good man is awake.
She danced and she sang.
Then she cried and screamed.
How could she let this happen?
A woman she became.
Tested through the flame.
With arms wide open to those that suffered the same.
Maturity comes when fantasy dies.
Wisdom would now be her shield.
And her dignity would one day be restored.
