Moments
#WritcoPoemPrompt91
As kids, one of the scariest moments in our lives is when our parents look at our school grades. What is something similar to this in Adulthood? Write a poem
Grown-up fears we tread,
Where shadows lurk and doubts are fed,
There lies a moment, heavy like stone,
When judgment's gaze chills us to the bone.
Once, as children, we feared the grades,
The marks that parents would cascade,
But in adulthood, a different fright,
Steals our peace and dims our light.
It's the annual review, that dreaded affair,
When our worth is measured in corporate lair,
Performance metrics, goals and appraisal,
A haunting dance where nerves may raze all.
We toil and strive throughout the year,
Seeking success, ambition held dear,
Yet the specter of judgment looms above,
In the conference room, where verdicts are wove.
Like a tempest's thunder, our heart does pound,
As supervisors...
