The smile on my face is real,
They bear witness to how I feel
I wonder though if they might know
that when I smile its a cover over what might show.

I can't always keep the tears from falling
but if I grin I can at least be stalling
the inevitable tumble out of my mind
wish not to be rude but are you f**cking blind?

this smile I wear to fake my way through
is ridiculous to me
yet convincing to you?
can you not see there's no spark in my eye?
a stupid smile and my truth slips right by.
