A Lover’s Ferry
Red petals have fallen,
From my heart, ever sullen,
On puddles of tears they carry,
A piece of love,
From a broken dove,
To be’nounce a hearted ferry.

No harps have played,
In this masquerade,
As it journyed through the night,
A silent quake,
Through sorrows wake,
Under the sky alight.

Shallow is the flowing wave,
As the petal’s set adrift,
Forever to flow,
T’where hearts may go,
On tears so vast and swift.

Our love behead,
I fear and dread,
To what the wind could bring,
Pieces of our love now dead,
And gone on Cupids wings.

And so my dear,
To what I fear,
No spark will ever show,
A warming sensation,
Nor slighted temptation,
T’is pain it best bestow.

Pieces of our love, adrift,
To outer worlds unknown,
For lasting love shall blossom hence,
From martyred seeds we’ve sown.
