I thought I had.
I've believed it
So many times.
But they've never stayed.
They've never kept their promise.
They've always said
They'd be the one
To be with me no matter what,
That they wouldn't
Be like all the others
Who left me behind
And ignored my tears.
But it's always
Been a lie.
And whenever
I see someone else
Get their happiness,
I smile
But deep down inside
I wonder,
"Why can't I have that?"
What bad things have I done
To be deprived
Of a chance?
Is it simply
Because I exist?
Am I doing something wrong?
When will I finally
Meet the special someone
That won't rip my heart out
And then leave me?
