She is a woman
#WritcoPoemChallenge
#WomensDay
Her eyes gleamed with the light
Of her inner strength,
She had walked miles,
Not worried about the length,
Her feet had ached once
Her soul had cried
Her legs had shook once
But now her tears had dried
Her legs had stiffened then
Her bones are strong
She keeps walking
And her path is long
She'd been called many things
All of which she bore
Pinned like badges to her chest
To the point where it felt sore
She once wore long sleeves
To cover up her scars all day
But now she wore them proud
And wore whatever she wanted anyway
Her heart had been ripped out
Drained and thrown to the floor
Her head was hurting, she had wanted to shout
But now she looks at her demons and slams the door
Yes she's a girl
Yes she can be strong
She can be proud
She can be long, tall
She can be loud
She can be the assistant
But more often she's the boss
She can be the referee
Or the one playing the toss
She's a woman
She can cut her hair
She can choose to covet up
Or go with her legs bare
She can master the sword
She can hold the pen
She can be who she is
And expect respect from men
She's a lady
Her legs she doesn't have to close
She can take a single photo
Without makeup or a provocative pose
She can wear makeup, however much she wants it
She can be proud of her body
And walk around while she flaunts it
She's a woman, this is her day
She can do what she wants
Be who she is
Because she wants it that way
