where do I belong
like a mad person so I am,
confused and lost I say,
a social misfit -
that's my Calibre
where do I belong?
so educated I am,
do I have to be close to the dark minded?
bigs schools I have gone to,
great performance has been my game,
but still wonder -
where do I belong?
my speech they complain,
they say I speak with with pride,
but shouldn't I use my perfect English?
is this why they have not been talking to me?
am I where I should belong?
in parties I say,
back seats they allocate me,
they forget my academic abilities,
they just ignore my academic qualifications,
educated people I say don't sit at the back.
in churches I see,
minor duties they allocate me,
imagine me,a professor,
stinky washrooms to clean,
do they even know the price of the soapi use to clean my hands?
they call me by name,
these people from the bush,
can't they add titles to my name,
since I am educated, some respect I demand! at least they should call me mheshimiwa.
when I go to the soko,
those dirty women run after me
selling their cheaper products to me
little do they know I belong to the supermarket.
I don't see my educated colleagues
but I wonder why I am in the midst of the uneducated,
I think earth isn't my planet,
perhar I should go to the moon
where the literate belong!
confused and lost I say,
a social misfit -
that's my Calibre
