REMINISCE

Reminisce on this...

When I think of this day, my heart swells
Not in heartbreak, oh no! but in ecstasy
For your death was timely, in that it saved me
My ache could never be compared with what you felt

Countless times I've looked at the scriptures
Poured over texts like a daily concoction
Searching and trying to understand
How One Man could be so world famous

The rich want to dine with you daily
If only for breakfast at the very least
The poor want that opium you alone give
All for the hope only found in your bossom

People are willing to die for your cause
It's beyond human reasoning or understanding
We can't fathom the works thereof
Or the depths you went for us

Do we cry out our frustration?
When everything seems to fail
Do we search for another?
Like the clueless beings we are

One Man died for the sins of many
One Man was persecuted for what he's found innocent of
Was beaten and bruised for the good He did
Do we take a minute to appreciate Him?

I AM come to give life to the fully, He says
I AM come to seek and save the lost
I AM the Way, the Truth and the Life
I AM deity in fleshly garb, no lie

I died for You and You and You
Yes, I died for You seeing this right now
How can you turn away from my love?
It is a sacrifice too great, not small

Mindless doubts cloud your mind
Your heart resists my vicarious sacrifice
My crucifixion was for your sake and ALL
When would you give up your cross to me?

Struck on the back for speaking the truth
Nailed because I wrought righteousness
Is it a wonder your leaders are still corrupt
When their ancestors were no less?

Untie me from the cross of your hearts
I died, was buried and embalmed in a grave
Nothing faked about any of it
My reward is that you come to me

I have spoken the words I was sent
I have done the miracles for your sake
It was all written from time long ago
My coming was just a fulfillment

My heart bled on this day for you
My Father severed ties with me this very day
I went into hell to fight for your freedom
What's the thanks you offer me at all?

I love you, know this and know wisdom
Everything is for you to enjoy
Muster the courage and approach me, come
Nothing can save you in this world, only I

It's not a made up story, this
A story told for generations
Backed by physical manifestations
How can you still doubt its authenticity?

I have done my part in the script
Your role remains to be filled
Your call to audition is always open
But tomorrow, might be a tad too late
