Revisionist History
You tell the story with such conviction
But is it truly fact or fiction
Because each time you tell it
The details seem to change

The narrative to the audience
The scene seems to rearrange
Surely it can’t be by accident
The whole thing is a little strange

What it seem to be
A little revisionist history
Tell it like it is
No need to sugarcoat
Don’t need to brag or boast
Because I know what is true
And so do you

Your memory seems to fail
A cautionary tale
Trying to recall the details
What’s coming out of your mouth
You’re riding off the rails

Like a round peg in a square hole
The facts just don’t fit
Think you should quit
Making things up as you go along

Seems to me to be
A little revisionist history
You can’t tell it like it was
Have the need to sugarcoat
To keep your head afloat
But we both know what’s true
And everyone else knows too
