The Endless Echo!
There used to be a trinket shelf in my home of old,
an era bygone, when simple worries and easy truths
used to be the order of the day without fail!

The shelf had a glass door, it's edges sharp, hence a prohibited land to the hands of the tiny toddler I was,
I could only fathom at the treasures inside!

There was a corner in that rectangular abode which gave refuge to things out of order, the outliers with a life left behind, like a conch that still carries the sea inside!

The first time I held that conch shell
in my tiny hands, it pricked my fingers
but I was a curious creature!

My large round eyes glued onto the jagged twirls in a pale pristine white, it's skin unlike anything I had known, a softness contoured in textured stone!

My brother, the eldest in our clan of four, stood many inches taller than me, the chief with secrets learned which he was only happy to share for the posterity!

He saw me look inside the shell, trying to unravel the mysteries squished inside, he corrected my course and said -Here,Don't look, listen to the waves inside!

He placed the shell to my ears gingerly and there it was, the marvellous symphony of the sea and the sand,
that love story old which stretches like the dunes of old seas!

My heart felt the pull of something sublime, not knowing why; I smiled, there was comfort in that sound,
a sense of solace and longing and belonging!

That was one of the more modest mysteries in life,
now I know that it was only just the wind playing tricks,
but that sound of that shell still damp like the sea lives on!

The soothing sound of the sea reverberating inside
the confines of a shell, like you endlessly echoing inside my heart, the delicate tale untold that keeps on writing itself !

You become the tranquil sea on a full moon night, infinite in your waves of warmth and wonder, playing touch and go in my dream, carrying pockets of light deep inside that gleam!

If I am to remain this hollowed shell, mute on the outside,
you'll be there as a sea of gravity that holds me ashore; I'll keep living, singing of the sounds and sights you left in me!
