Peek-a-boo (for the saddened soul)
#WritcoPoemPrompt48
Write a poem about a time that your illusions of someone or something were shattered.

Strange how love can make one so blind, with no discrimination, all throughout the nation, if only we'd read between the lines,
I was just a boy,
naive and cocky, gets cages rattled, snuck us into the movie, can't believe nobody tattled,
you were just a girl
smart and popular, opposite of me,
found yourself curious about a bad boy, so I was as bad as you wanted me to be,
flying down the highway, didn't see the signs I passed em sideways, looking back I see the holes in what I thought was perfection, wish I could say I learned my lesson,
I watched my angel get demonic overnight, everything I thought I knew, THE ONLY FUCKING ONE I LOVED WAS YOU,
The truth almost killed me coming out little by little, drown myself in whiskey, hoping id forget her, it's been so many years now yes it's true, just like playing peek-a-boo, from time to time your in my view, and will be for the rest of my life.
Now close your eyes, no peeking!
while I go run and hide.
