2020 Can't Stop Santa
2020 Can't Stop Santa
Listen up children,
Large, small, young & old.
For this Christmas story
has never been told.
It's scary, it's sad, & it's sweet;
Santa caught Covid,
It knocked him off his feet.
This year has been strange,
& way out of the norm.
Even his elves are sick,
isolating in their dorm.
Poor Mrs. Claus
was beside herself,
so she called on Buddy,
The lonely elf.
Buddy stayed healthy,
From being shunned.
Now that they needed him,
He'd show everyone.
Mrs. Claus made her
Special candy cane soup.
Buddy delivered it
to every elf group.
Soup made with something Special, glitter & mint,
Don't ask for the recipe,
Mrs. Claus won't give a hint.
But she cooked it slow,
& made it with love.
She said a prayer,
receiving blessings from above.
In bed, sick elves wondered
How Buddy could be so kind,
After how they treated him,
Yet he didn't even mind.
Buddy tried to tell them, but
They didn't seem to hear it.
He showed the difference;
They felt the holiday;
He felt The Holy Spirit.
He said, "Love & forgiveness,
Is something we all need."
"Treating others the way
I want to be treated" is my creed.
They thought about it as
They drifted off to sleep.
While a blanket of snow fell,
Three feet deep.
Buddy hammered, pounded,
Drilled holes for screws,
He sang while he worked to
Ward off the Christmas blues.
He cut, sewed, then finally
painted the very last toy.
Hoping to save Christmas,
& bring everyone joy.
Mrs. Claus wouldn't leave
Santa's bedside.
He tried to get up. She threatened.
"I'll have you hog-tied!"
"But Mama,...
