sipping at low grade—
powdered-creamer-laced,
medium-roast, caffeinated coffee
from a cheap paper cup.
slurping loudly
so that I may feel
increasingly more refreshed
with each sip,

but, and let's be honest.
refreshing is too much
to ask of a synthesized powdered substance
that is merely dairy adjacent

a 'creamer' that
only so much resembles
what its mimicking.
