The Calculated Self

I am the sum of all the parts I know,
An equation drawn in lines of thought and pride;
My ego, a variable that tends to grow,
A function unchecked, diverging wide.

But I am more than numbers on a page,
More than the axis of desire’s plot,
So I take the limits, find the range,
Subtract the things I'm truly not.

Differentiation peels away the layers,
Exposes what is constant, what is true,
I find the core beneath my ego’s flares,
The quiet truth that only I construe.

Integration of the heart and mind,
Balances the peaks and valleys deep,
A self that grows not in the boastful kind,
But in the roots that unseen silence keeps.

In every proof, I find a path to see,
That ego’s just a point upon a plane,
To minimize its grip, its gravity,
And solve for peace in life’s long, vast domain.
