OLD PAL
He walked to the corral and saddled old pal. and soon they were ready to go.
He mounted the bay And they got on their way with Blue his his old coon hound in tow.
He rode through the haze looking for strays enjoing the warmth of the sun.
When off to his right, just out of sight,he heard the boom of a gun.
At the sound of the gun pal started to run making it hard to stay in the saddle.
The gun continued to roar like there was some kind of war and he was just part of the battle.
Pal ran into the trees
as fast as you please.
And That made for a more interesting ride.
His plan was hold fast till pal ran out of gas. And hope that he might somehow survive.
Into the woods they did go where all the branches hung low. So to avoid them he started to duckin
Well about that same time old pal got it in mind that it might be a good time to start buckin.
Well plan A was now dead so it was plan B instead but there weren't no plan B that he knowed.
Pal was acting quite frantic he was beginning to panic and he'd decided pal was the worse horse he'd ever rode!
Well it wasn't no equesrern ballet but he stayed in the saddle that day. wonderin
how long pal might keep a goin.
When they got away from the gun pal slowed down his run And somehow he had managed not to be thrown.
It was getting quite late when they rode through the gate. And He was glad to be home my friend
He took the saddle off Pal put him back in corral and he never rode that old nag again!
