Be Gentle
I am only a fragile creature;
My bones can break.
I'm shaped by the brittleness of my nature,
The structure of my being is weak
But if you must, please, don't be an amateur
Be gentle in your cruelty – finish before I speak

I don't think I can live with the picture,
Life would be bleak
You are the core to my feature,
The whole of me would lack
My soul would darken from the torture,
And the hope that lives within would dim it's luck.

But when we live, we have to give
– you were never mine to keep
If this is where you leave,
Be gentle, with your hands down so deep
Leave some room for my poor heart to survive
I could use the help.
