Poisoned Her Oceans
Bright green eyes,
Brilliant blue hair,
A small voice,
And a big wave.
Turtles on her back,
Moss on her face,
Kelp on her heels,
Sparkles in her eyes,
Fish on her sides.
Seaweed decorates her hair,
Pieces here and there,
She reflects the bright blue sky.

Humans came along and dumped their trash,
Hunted her fish and her turtles.
Left their nets,
Spilled their deathly oil,
Melted the ice caps and heated her waters,
Death brought onto her heart.

Her eyes lose their color,
Her hair starts to dull,
Her voice even meaker,
Her waves get smaller.
The turtles start to leave,
The moss slowly dies,
The kelp falls off her heels,
The sparkle no longer in her eyes.
Now nothing decorates her sides,
Plastic tangled in her hair.
Her waters have grayed,
The deeper you go,
The more blues you'll see,
Bubbles rise faster,
Salty tears set free.
Under her loose hair,
Under her small little waves,
Deep inside she hides,
Deep inside she cries.

We have poisoned her from the inside out,
The oil leaks through,
Her waters are now much darker.
Her sea turtles have died,
Along with the sparkle in her eye.
Now the moss on her face is dead,
The kelp on her heels gone,
Only fish bones and soda cans decorate her sides.
