Mine Last Sunset
The sun retreats as I pack mine bag for an eternal stay in the nearby woodlands.
I have pondered the decision, attempting to find reasoning to stay within the realm of the living, yet I have found only nothingness within.
I await the light’s fading to make mine move and in this time, I say mine goodbyes to the home where I have laid mine head.
I give sorrowful glimpses upon the belongings which have held me here, in this pain filled place, so dim of joy and as I do so, a tear swells within mine eye.
A tear of sadness or one of relief,
I am cannot be certain yet, I feel absolution will soon be close at hand.
The sunlight has gone and so, with mine goodbyes uttered silently from quivered lips, I place a cold key upon the mantle and leave mine home for a final time.
I walk for what seems like an eternity before entering the woodlands, pausing for a moment to once again, ponder mine decision before continuing on into the trees.
The further I descend into the trees, the more my heart breaks as I know that this must be done and before long, I find the perfect spot to spend mine final hours.
I sit within a small clearing for hours, listening to the creatures around me before taking a small vile from mine coat pocket.
I shed one final tear before consuming it’s contents and wait as a feeling of warmth rolls over me.
I slowly, collapse onto the forest floor, finally, feeling the sense of relief that I have been chasing for so many years.
The contents work slowly, allowing me to hold on just long enough for me to witness mine final sunset.
