Echoes From the Past
Garry took me down memory lane
To my writings from back in the day
I couldn't help but shed some tears
The mind is never immune to fear.

I still remember everything
It stays in my heart evergreen
I realized that empathy is a gift
And only a few are willing to give.

I was literally a victim of depression
It played on my lifestyle and thoughts
Can one succeed with low self-esteem?
I sought happiness, it was far from me.

But dreams, they say, never dies
And with time we overcome tides
I look at the past from my rearview
And thank God for being my refuge.

Today, the past is envious of the present
And the future is pregnant with presents
I tell you, a reward is attached to pain
If and only if we refuse to yield or break.
