“Dance Like Nobody's Watching”
I've always been ashamed to dance,
like why would anyone want to see my blubber jiggle like jello?
But, when I dance I keep in time to both the rhythm of the music
and the lyrics.
It's like some tribal art that can't be explained in modern times,
a cave painting that tells a story excavators only dream of relaying.
I turn a song into a story untold and exclusively for those
who understand that the binds of this world can't hold
what wonders can't be held.
My body,
no matter how unconventionally attractive,
flows with the souls of those who came before
and those who will make their mark afterwards.
But no one sees it besides me and my son who,
at two years of age,
hasn't reached the realm of judgment.
