Words

Words can flow, like a river tamed,
Soft and sweet, or booming strong,
Make you feel both right as day,
And helplessly so wrong,

Empowering, as they may be,
It's only interpretation,
How it's read, or what it's about,
Subjective presentation,

Meaning sways, from one to another,
And summons feelings, in that sense,
Changing minds or strengthening,
I marvel at their omnipotence,

To paint a picture without a brush,
A pallet made of text and thought,
With just a pen and just some ink,
Impressive things are wrought,

A pain you bear is exercised,
Purged upon a sheet of white,
Enchanting scenes you saw just once,
Taking form, and taking flight,

A mystery of joy and light,
A maze of mixed elation,
Kindled by the embers of,
The fires of creation,

Subvert the walls of apathy,
Blockading someone's heart,
Fill the void with peace of mind,
Or tear them all apart,

Of all the means we touch another,
Nothing cuts so deep,
Be careful of the words you sow,
You might not like what’s reaped.
