Independence Day
Today was a day of reckoning
Which many did forget...
Though some people like to tell themselves
It's enough to thank a vet...
Our Flags get hung with special care
To show the countries pride...
Some all year through, some days before
This causes a divide...
The men who died to set us free
Did so just for our flag...
For it had meant so much to them
Not just something to brag...
'Absolute freedom' it represents
On levels never seen...
To build a life void of control
Or rules held by a Queen...
So many died and gave their life
That you may speak your mind...
A country which can be so great
Like this you'll never find...
My flag it sits and waves proudly
On Independence Day...
No different than the other days
Because this is the way...
