A painful trap

In the end it was just me and my thoughts,
A painful trap, long after you were gone
I tried in vain to forget all about you
But you clung to my thoughts like a monkey to the tree
I cried in vain for my freedom
I hate that I love you still
My heart is totally ensnared and there is no hope
Now I yearn for you to come back
I miss the embrace of your loving arms
My lips pine for your sumptuous lips
And my gaze misses the enchantment of your nakedness
I would stare for hours as you slept after love making
I swear I could hold my gaze for days
I miss how your eyes could look deep into mine
Leaving only warmth deep within my soul
And erasing every pain & every sorrow
Your love was to my soul a healing portion
Now I'm a weakling without hope of being ok
I pray each footstep you take will lead you back to me
Because even now it's just me and my thoughts
A painful trap, because you are not here with me
