Deny me thy mirth and thy solitude
bring forward the knowledge of power
set sail on the river of no return
rescue yourself from the burning tower.

Deny me thy words and thy honesty
bring to me the burning sun
look for kindness in everyone you meet
my life's chapters have just begun.

Deny me thy wealth and thy understanding
let me live through poverty and pain
let me learn to be humble and forgiving
let my sins wash away in the rain.

Deny me thy knowledge and thy vision
bestow the darkness upon me
let me learn the meaning of gratitude
so I can help the others I see.

Deny me thy name and thy guidance
let me learn from the mistakes of my past
the answers that I'm looking for
will be revealed at the very last.

Deny me thy shadow and thy forgiveness
cast me adrift on the raging sea
let me walk in the footsteps of my demons
to find the person I want to be!

Deny me thy spirit and thy example
as I approach the valley of death
let me live out my life with dignity
as I face my final breath.

Deny me thy return and thy presence
give up the fanfare and throne
I'm going to lead by my own existence
and do this journey on my own.

Deny me thy crown and thy self sacrifice
these self turning paths are hard I admit
but I won't ask for any help from you
until I think I've earned it!
