Bliss
Miles long, miles wide,
The sun on the back of my pride.
My southern plains paved with grace,
A lovely respite from the cold northern case.
Arriving with joy, a friend so dear,
I greet her with an honest cheer.
Companions for a short while,
Of adventure and tempting smile.
The sweet tea and biscuits so warm,
We laugh and eat out in the southern storm.
Watching the clouds disperse,
Watching the colors emerge.
As the evening draws near,
We exchange our thoughts with a tear.
Sharing stories of what we'd forlorn,
Carefully missing our hometowns in the morn.
The sun sets, a vibrant sky,
I hug goodbye and bid her a farewell.
This heart will fill with grateful bliss,
But for now, I'm happy to be in South Carolina with a friend I missed.
