The Dancer
#WritcoPoemPrompt35
By the flickering light of an ancient lamp,
By the twinkling waters of an ancient river,
The dancer entertains the heathen enemies.
This fascinating history forever etched in stone,
Is a monumental discovery of the might of Valentina Stone.
A formidable woman she is,
as elusive as the wind, as powerful as the flood, as swift as lighting.
Tranquil like the river.
She moved with vigor, light and graceful.
Her dance was a beautiful art to behold.
Bewitching as a fox, skin as smooth as jade, hair black like ink.
Phoenix eyes, narrowed in vigilance, crimson lips and a cold smile.
Under the glowing stars of the night sky,
Under the eyes of the crowd heathens in heat,
Time then flowed slow, carried away the wind.
The critters and the crawlies, her body never rested.
The magic of the dance, spelled miracles on the history pages,
An ancient woman of power and pride,
They fell but she stood tall, tired but energized.
It was done, bodies in her wake and red in her trail.
Behold her mystery history courteously entails.
