Three words

"I like you." I said,
My eyes sparkling with hope.

You merely laughed.
You took it as a joke.
And I had to agree.
We were just kids,
So young and free.

"I will wait." I promised,
For you I would've drowned at sea.

You needed some time
I tried to understand,
Beleive me, I really did.
But waiting got too hard,
So I decided to confess.

"I love you." I said this time,
Hoping you've changed your mind.

You looked at me strange
And politely said "I'll pass."
What did I do wrong?
Why won't you say it back?
I'm sick of waiting, so

"I hate you!" I cried out,
Getting fed up with your games.

Everyone was shocked
No one believed that me,
The person who loved you,
Now have come to despise you
With the entirety of my heart.

"But I love you now..." You lied,
The disgust so clear on your face.

You never planned to love me.
You made me wait for too long.
I couldn't look you in the eye,
I refused to get hypnotized,
To fall for your tricks again.

"Way too late." I remarked
Coldheartedly, absent, and broken.

It's funny how three words
Can change the whole mood
If they're not said back.
So this is how it feels to
Break someone else's heart.
