Madam Age
Age sits on every inch of me
It is beautifully ugly
Beautiful, coz life's scars hide themselves in its folds
Ugly, for the mirror can still see them up close
Shattering my perceived beauty
That is now an insatiable fodder for a bygone youth
A youth that I keep alive to humor me
to surreptitiously kiss all that I refuse to let go
Unwilling to bow down to madam age
Age, laughing at my apparent childishness
Cuddles me hungrily
'Use the iron of grace' it says on a somber note
'Your remind me of
crumpled clothes
Just meet me in the eye and disrobe every lie.'
I cringe in my disobedient skin.
