We were never close
But you always kept a
close on me, though
I never realized it.
I was too young and naive
to know what unconditional
love was.
There were always better
things to do than to pick up
the phone, always another
door to open other than yours,
And better advice to listen to
Than the wisdom you held.
Yet, you never let me out
of your sight and now it's
Too late to call, visit or even
Think of you anymore.
Because I waited too long,
And now you're gone forever.
