Hues of Your Life
I hope one day
you wake from dreaming
and the blacks and blues you've been painted with
and the rosebush you've tried so desperately to peek through
and the bronze you've tried to restore yourself with
and the reds you've let burn several hundred yards of rope
and the greens you have watched flourish around you
that have now become mere shades of gray
will brighten and bloom once more for you
and what remains is a pallette
for you to paint your future
and your past
and show how you've lived
and what you've done
and what you've been through
so when our senses falter
and our memories fade
and our bodies become tired
we may rejoice
and celebrate
what is about to come.
